Calls for scholarship applications within the Swedish Institute Visby Programme

Apply for a Swedish Institute (SI) scholarship for studies or research in Sweden and contribute to the development of your home country.

The Swedish Institute (SI) Baltic Sea Region Cooperation has the pleasure to announce that the application call for SI Visby Programme scholarships, the academic year 2017/2018 is now open.

The SI Visby Programme aims at building capacity in students, researchers and young professionals who have the ambition to play an active role in society and contribute to a positive development in the EU Eastern Partnership countries, Russia and the Baltic Sea region at large.

PhD studies or research

Countries of eligibility 

Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova, Russia and Ukraine

Scholarship offer

PhD students and postdoctoral researchers are provided with and excellent opportunity to conduct research at Swedish universities within all academic disciplines and during the following periods: PhD students – up to 12 monthsPostdoctoral researchers – 6, 9 or 12 monthsSenior scientists – up to 6 months
The scholarship amounts to SEK 15,000 per month for PhD students and SEK 18,000 per month for postdoctoral researchers and senior scientists.

Scholarship offer

University graduates are welcome to apply for a SI scholarship for studies at one-year (60 credits) or two-year (120 credits) master's level programmes starting in the Autumn Semester 2017. Scholarship holders on one-year master’s programmes may also apply for an extension of the scholarship to pursue an unpaid internship in Sweden (up to 5 months).

The scholarship covers both the tuition fee and living expenses to the amount of SEK 9,000 per month.

Master's level
full-degree studies

The application process consists of two parts:

  1. application to the eligible study programmes via the national online application service at www.universityadmissions.se on 16 January 2017 at the latest;
  2. application for a Swedish Institute scholarship via www.si.se 1-10 February 2017

SI Summer Academy for Young Professionals (SAYP) 2017

Do you want to build professional contact networks and develop your skills in transparent, efficient and sustainable public administration? Are you younger than 36 years old? Apply to the Swedish Institute's leadership and training programme for the new generation of public officials!

The SI Summer Academy for Young Professionals (SAYP) is a leadership programme, designed as a two-week intensive module where the aim is to network, exchange and build new knowledge of transparency, openness and innovation in public administration. SAYP requires excellent skills in English and is open to participants from Belarus, Estonia, Georgia, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Sweden and Ukraine belonging to any of the following categories:
